About

Wisbech St Mary Youth Football Club was formed in 1993 by Keith Williams who was originally involved with youth soccer in a village called Friday Bridge which is just outside Wisbech. The reason for the move was that the facilities in Friday Bridge were no longer available so Keith approached Wisbech St Mary who agreed in principal that if just 1 child from the village was playing football for a team from within the village it was the way forward.

In 1995 the first Five A Side Tournament took place and since then has gone from strength to strength to be one of the largest events of its kind within East Anglia. This year's tournament was played over 2 days with entries from 230 teams from within the region and some as far as Sheffield and Norwich. 1995 saw Keith Williams move on to Youth Development Officer for Wisbech Town FC.

So it was decided to change the structure of the club with Martin Holmes being elected as President.
"Saints on Tour" had its first outing to Great Yarmouth in 1996. This has developed into an annual event where adults and children have a social weekend away participating in low-key games of football with teams within the vicinity of where they are staying. About 500 people take part in this now very successful and enjoyable weekend.

The season 2002-2003 has seen the club grow to 23 teams competing in various leagues throughout the region and have just been awarded The Charter Standard Club Award. The club has not stood still though but continued to grow over the past two seasons; particularly with the immense growth in girls football.
